Highlight of the trip was one of the many hikes we partook during our stay. It was the Lares region mountain hike which was a bit longer but was very relaxing and was the perfect amount of challenge but still enjoyable view breathtaking experience. The teachings of the indigenous woman was also very self-reflective as it humbled me and gave me once again à new perspective on the hardships people all around the world face and how you shouldn’t be taking your position within society for granted. Through their arts and crafts, how one must be persistent patient and appreciative of everything that surrounds us because as the sweaters, scarfs, panchos take months to create the Peruvian Andes and grass fields took millennia. Made me believe in hard work even more and its significance in success.

Our trip's highlight was the high-altitude hiking trails in the Cusco region. We were led through parts of the Cusco region that felt special owing to the dramatic landscapes and unique insights into the specific characteristics of the area offered to us by our guide. What felt particularly unique was that we did not come across any other hikers or hiking group, only seeing a few local farmers throughout the whole trail. Pancho  (Trip Coordinator) was excellent in every conceivable way. He shared many insights about the local history with us in an accessible and understandable way, always making sure to clearly distinguish between factual historical episodes and speculation about the likely reality of everyday experiences of communities of the past. He has a real historian's instinct.

Camila is a gem , and I’m thrilled to be in partnership with her. She brings all of skills and qualities I want and need in someone working thousands of miles away - integrity, transparency, collaboration, and strong communication. As a developer and facilitator of complex programs, Camila is thoughtful, strategic and extremely organized. I hope to be working collaboratively with her for many years to come!

Working with Camila was one of the best experiences I have had as a program coordinator. This past summer, I collaborated with her to coordinate an arts/culture and hiking curriculum for a group of 15 students in Peru. Camila brought energy, creative ideas, and valuable local contacts, allowing us to build a program that was tailored for our students and responsive to the local environment. She created an outstanding program with genuine connections to local partners, a packed itinerary, and was always responsive to our needs, even during flight delays. Her commitment to supporting local businesses was important to me as a program designer, and she provided thoughtful insights. I would highly recommend working with Camila and look forward to collaborating again in the future.

SAFETY APPROACH AND
RISK MANAGEMENT

At Andean Adventure Academy, your safety and well-being are our top priorities. We prioritize preparedness for emergencies: all staff are trained in First Aid and carry a well-equipped first aid kit.

Our programs are carefully designed with risk management in mind, and we have doctors on call, with constant awareness of the nearest hospital's location.
We work closely with a clinic on the ground and we requiere all of our students come with an medical international insurance.

In the event of a medical emergency, we will coordinate and oversee transfer to a hospital. Participants are responsible for any medical expenses incurred, so
international medical insurance is required for all students and faculty. Please inform us of any pre-existing medical conditions or physical ailments before departure. We have established ties with healthcare professionals,
facilities, and medical consultants to support participants. A detailed health and safety plan with policies and procedures is available upon request.
